Christopher Watkins
Pastor
Christopher Watkins serves as our Pastor. He is passionate about leading people to God in Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit.
His interest are in bringing out the the Ancient Near Eastern cultural framework of the supernatural worldview of which Ancient Israel comes out of and lives within that then produced the Old Testament while showing the ways in which Scripture relates to and differs from other ancient myths of the surrounding nations. Alongside of this interest is the Second Temple period writings (destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D. to the first century) of which impacted the thoughts of Jesus and the Apostles of which they would write under the influence of the Holy Spirit what we now call the New Testament, along with diving into the early Church Fathers in how they understood the teachings of the Apostles.
Despite the intellectual rigor in bringing out the historical-cultural context of the Scriptures, Christopher desires more to simply imitate Christ and in leading others to live out The Way of life as taught by Christ and the Apostles through living a life of repentance, developing meaningful and intentional times of prayer, and learning to participate in the Life of the Church in the Holy Spirit through the sacraments and holy living.
Christopher is also a Calibration/Metrology Field Service Technician with Southeastern Biomedical Associates and enjoys traveling to meet new people and the technical aspects of calibrating and servicing medical equipment. Christopher has been married to Kendra for 18 years. He hopes you get a chance to meet her and see the wonder and grace that God has blessed him with in having such a wonderful and caring wife. Kendra is also a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in OCD and other anxiety disorders. They both enjoy Lego, playing with their dogs Kingsley and Molly, hiking, kayaking, and food...good food!
Christopher earned his first Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University in 2011 while serving in the U.S. Army as a 94M Radar Repairer for the ANTPQ36 Radars (2007 - 2013). He earned two additional Master degrees in Christian Studies and also in Biblical & Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas in 2013.
